The Long Creek Greenway Restoration is a shining example of how thoughtful environmental design and construction practices can transform a vital natural corridor into a resilient community asset. Greenrise was proud to support this project by delivering comprehensive erosion control and stabilization services throughout the restoration process.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Long Creek Greenway, located in northwest Charlotte, underwent a major restoration initiative to improve water quality, enhance wildlife habitat, and create a safer, more accessible trail system for the public. The project aimed to restore natural stream functions, reduce sedimentation, and reinforce the creek’s long-term stability—ensuring the greenway could continue to serve as a critical ecological and recreational resource.
KEY SERVICES INCLUDED
Greenrise partnered on this project to implement site-specific erosion and sediment control measures, as well as long-term stabilization solutions designed to protect the integrity of the restored landscape.
KEY SERVICES INCLUDED
- Installation of perimeter erosion controls (silt fence, inlet protection, etc.)
- Streambank stabilization using naturalized materials
- Native and riparian seeding with straw application
- Matting and soil stabilization to support native plant growth
- Ongoing stormwater compliance monitoring
These measures helped minimize runoff during construction, control sediment movement, and establish a stable foundation for new vegetation to take root and thrive.
PROJECT IMPACT
The completed greenway not only enhances connectivity and recreation for the local community, but also plays a vital role in improving watershed health and supporting native ecosystems. With proper erosion control in place, the restored corridor is built to withstand the elements and continue benefiting Charlotte residents for years to come
