BNA Central Ramp Expansion

Erosion Control & Stabilization for an Active Airport Expansion

Location: Nashville, Tennessee

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Delivered full-service erosion control and stabilization for a major active airport project.
  • Coordinated with Kiewit across phases, from temporary erosion control to final stabilization.
  • Installed and removed 3,000 linear feet of silt fence to protect the site.
  • Established 2.5 acres of Bermuda sod and hydroseeding through extreme summer heat.
  • Supported Nashville International Airport’s ongoing growth with a coordinated, phased approach.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Greenrise Technologies partnered with Kiewit to provide erosion control and stabilization services for the BNA Central Ramp Expansion at Nashville International Airport. Over approximately a year on the project, Greenrise supported multiple phases of work, beginning with temporary erosion control and continuing through final stabilization across 2.5 acres.

Working within an active airport construction environment, Greenrise’s scope included silt fence installation and removal, Bermuda sod installation, and Bermuda hydroseeding, requiring close coordination with Kiewit to keep the project moving safely and on schedule.

OUR WORK

Greenrise provided comprehensive erosion control and stabilization support throughout the project, including:

  • Installation and removal of approximately 3,000 linear feet of silt fence for temporary erosion and sediment control
  • Installation of 1 acre of Bermuda sod, sourced from Southern Elite Sod Farm and Super-Sod
  • Hydroseeding of 1.5 acres with Bermuda, including temporary seed for quicker initial coverage
  • Hydroseeding completed using a Bowie 1100 hydroseeder with Profile Products wood mulch, tackifier, and Flexterra
  • Stabilization work carried out during two periods of extreme summer heat in July, requiring close coordination with
  • Kiewit, who provided watering to support germination and growth

PROJECT IMPACT

Today, the stabilized areas show established vegetation across 2.5 acres, supporting the continued development of Nashville International Airport. The project reflects Greenrise’s ability to stay engaged with a site through multiple phases of construction, from temporary erosion control through final stabilization, while coordinating closely with a general contractor in an active, high-security airport environment.

The BNA Central Ramp Expansion also demonstrates the value of strong field partnership. Through two stretches of extreme July heat, Kiewit supported the Greenrise crew and provided the watering needed for proper germination and growth, helping keep the project on schedule and delivering a successfully stabilized result under challenging summer conditions.
