McDonald’s – Hanson, KY
MODvault Underground Detention System
HIGHLIGHTS
-
Nearly 17,000ft³ of stormwater storage achieved within a tight site footprint using a double-stack MODvault system.
-
Modular flexibility accommodated shallow outfall conditions without compromising capacity or performance.
-
Rapid installation, with system assembly in under 2 days.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
With limited lot space and strict stormwater requirements, McDonald’s needed an underground detention solution that could maximize storage capacity without expanding the site footprint. Greenrise partnered closely with Langan Engineering early in the design phase, applying a “measure twice, cut once” approach to ensure the MODvault system was accurately designed, properly specified, and optimized for site constraints from the start.
Our turnkey approach supported not only product supply and installation, but design and specification services as well, delivering precision, performance, and schedule confidence. The result was a double stack MODvault detention system at McDonald’s in Hanson, KY, with a similar successful installation also completed at a McDonald’s in Clarksville, TN.
Why MODvault
Efficient Use of Footprint
MODvault’s modular void-space design enabled the site to meet all stormwater storage requirements within the limited area available.
Flexible Configuration for Site Constraints
A shallow outfall required the discharge point to remain close to the surface. The MODvault system’s adaptable layout allowed our team to adjust depth and configuration without compromising capacity or performance.
Double-Stack Performance
Two vertically stacked MODvault units maximized storage while staying within the site’s horizontal and vertical limits.
System Details
- Total Storage Capacity: Nearly 17,000ft³
- Configuration: Double-stacked MODvault modules
- Performance: High void ratio supports efficient, reliable stormwater storage with long-term structural integrity
Installation Timeline
- Total Installation (excavation to backfill): Under 4 days
- Module Assembly: Less than 2 days
- Turnkey Delivery: Greenrise supplied and installed the MODvault detention system; excavation and backfill completed by others
Team & Partners
- Engineer: Langan Engineering (Nashville, TN)
- Contractor: Central Paving Co. (Kentucky)
- Scope: Greenrise provided the MODvault system and full assembly services as part of the project team’s broader site development effort.
PROJECT IMPACT
By choosing the MODvault underground detention system, the team at McDonald’s Hanson, KY was able to:
- Maximize usable site space
- Meet stormwater storage requirements on a highly constrained site
- Install a durable, efficient detention solution quickly to maintain project schedule
